The Racial Hypocrisy of the Left

Who said this?

“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do.”
“The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

That was none other than Barack Obama when he was the Senator of Illinois in 2002

And Trent Lott was not supporting the “segregationist path” of Strom Thurmond (which had not been part of Thurmond’s life since the early 70s) . Even CNN pointed out that Thurmond “eventually moved away from his segregationist position”

In fact, Strom Thurmond showed his change of heart  in his national defense platform to show an explicit repudiation of his racist past and assertions of support for affirmative action in a BET interview.

Yet, the Democratic Party has no problem with the former KKK member , Senator Robert Byrd still having a seat in the Senate. It wasn’t that long ago when Byrd even used the term “White N*gr”. Senator Bryd had an even more “racist” past than Thermond, yet the 100 year old Senator is considered an icon on the Senate floor.

It’s all about the letter behind the name. If there is a (R), then you’re called a racist. If there’s a (D), you’re forgiven.
